I admire your patience in being able to do a video after the tank was delivered and moved in. Just watching you not jumping in and start adding stuff made me anxious!!! I can't wait to see the end result!!!
Love the cabinet and aquarium. It's all very beautiful. I really love the cabinet color. (Not the usual black) Discus are going to look amazing in there. They are such a beautiful fish with such a range of colors. Congratulations on your new set up.
Discus and blackwater - you just made my day. I just set up a 120gallon for discus. I have an old fridge freezer that I tipped onto its back and put a pond liner in. It sits outside my bedroom window (under the carport) and will add a further 120 gallon to the system.
Wow gorgeous tank! Your gonna Love keeping discus and they will enjoy that Blackwater setting a lot! Can't wait to see this tank evolve, have fun with it!
cant wait for the new build! congrats on the tank. you say this tank was in the basement. so obviously I'm sure the floor can take the weight. I'm looking to upgrade to a 120gal from my 75gal. do you think you could do a small segment on large tanks and how your floor can take it? maybe in the next q&a? I'd really appreciate to hear your thoughts on this. I rent and a house and there is a tenant beneath me. I cant reinforce beneath me. I hear from one person you shouldn't, I hear from others I should be fine. its scary to think about the worst case scenario. I am on an outside wall and the house is older. I hear older homes actually use larger beams to support the floor so I could be safe? I need to inspect to find out. again, thanks for all your knowledge. between you and Joey you've really helped me along the fish keeping journey, and made me a successful fish keeper!!
It's looking friggin' awesome! I'm looking forward to my soon to be monstertank for the african cichlids also worrying about how to get it safely inside hahaha. Keep it up!
Aquatlantis is one of the best brands of aquariums and other aquarium acessories. It's a Portuguese company wich also makes aquariums that have Eheim "brand" in it!
That's a nice tank and stand you got there ! I know it's not my window but you could paint it black (according to Mick Jagger). All that sunlight coming in could cause some problems.
@@NaturalAquaria Okay thats fair, i wonder if you will upgrade the lighting eventually when stocked and what your stocking density will be like, fish and plants considered. Really excited to see where this goes. I have a 120g discus tank so ill be watching closely for tips.
Discus are not harder to keep. I have kept them for years. 25% change twice a week TOPS. You can handle them just fine. Also they are not skiddish like some say. Mine eat from my hand. Nothing to worry about. Oh and my filtration on my 220 discus tank is 2 fx6's if that helps any
Your lucky you have enough space for a nice big tank like that. I only have space for a 15 gallon tall upstairs because my mom won’t let me put any type of tank downstairs
Same, well with my son's other grandmother since I live with my son's father's side of the family. But I have a 5g, 20g long, and a 2.5g in my room. I had another 2.5g and a 10g but I dont have them anymore
Your time will come. Its hard to wait but its also a time to really get all the experience and knowledge that is necessary to invest in a big tank. Big tanks not only cost solid money upfront for the tank and stand, but lighting, filtration, hardscape and substrate may end up tacking on a few grand. I remember Thomas saying he spent over $10k on the last one. And then there's the fish...lol. Speaking of hardscape, I love Holey rock. At about $5lb I would easily spend 1k on a big tank. I am still dreaming of bigger and better. I currently run a 120.
Hmmmm going to be a little filtration issue down the road being 27x27 wo sump. Most quality canisters as you’re clearly planing to use due to cabinet design.. can’t get deeper then a standard 200-250-275 type unit being 24” the added depth is also going to require a lot more wavemakers use cause canisters just are not going to move water front to back very well. Issue I see though is trying to keep the bottom clean cause you’re going to really be stressing the best of canisters with that type of tank design. And extra 3” front to back and top to bottom doesn’t sound like much but it will be due to the displacement volume the water isn’t going to want to move as easy at depth. Absolutely loved your last mega built though and currently doing a very similar setup but with a 210 I picked up for $350 and currently tearing down and rebuilding. Question.. if you had the option today would you still go with the freedom sump or would you pay the extra few dollars for the couple additions from the red flex series? They are same in design and function but the flex adds all the little things. Discus? 🤣🤣 you hate maintenance.. you complain of adding water to the 265 once a week and now you’re going to be doing 80% water changes every other day? Oh boy this will be interesting at the one year update video 🤣🤣
Is the music moving the stand at 1:58 called the Big Rich remix? I heard his signature “Perfect” in the music. Ohio Fish Rescue in the house. You should try and tour his operation.
I have a 125 gallon tank ready for Discus. Aquael Maxi Kani Canisters and ziss bio bubble filters. Fluval heaters.....plants, driftwood, ADA substrate......I am still nervous about them.
What are you going to do to hide all the wires in the back of the glass. I suggest you keep 6000 cardinals and other small tetras in a heavily planted tank.
I admire your patience in being able to do a video after the tank was delivered and moved in. Just watching you not jumping in and start adding stuff made me anxious!!! I can't wait to see the end result!!!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Just waiting for my 5foot tank to set up a discus tank my self. This will be great! 👍
This tank and stand is so gorgeous! Discus are intimidating to me too, so I will be watching eagerly.
Exciting stuff guys! Look forward to seeing what comes next.
What a beautiful tank ! I'm just glad your floor is leveled so you you don't have to go through this again 15:20. Phew!
That is the best looking home aquarium tank I've ever seen.
GREAT CHOICE !!!
Love the cabinet and aquarium. It's all very beautiful. I really love the cabinet color. (Not the usual black) Discus are going to look amazing in there. They are such a beautiful fish with such a range of colors. Congratulations on your new set up.

awesome can't wait
YAY!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Good luck🍀
Can't wait to see more...beautiful setup
very nice. Im not a big fan of the canopy but that one has a nice low profile .Color is great too, making it seem larger than it actually is.
OMG IM SO HYPED
Love this tank!!!!

good choice for tank GOOD LUCK:)
and also try to get your hand on some big spotted jaguar discus they are beautiful
That's a big open wall!!! (What about the window???)
Nice tank
I was intimidated by discus originally as well. They aren’t that bad, give them clean water and good food and you’re good to go.
Fossilized fish?! Thomas you're such a cad!!
cant wait for the new build! congrats on the tank.

Please God Go REEF tank!!! With that depth you have too!!!!
I’m sad you lost your old one but love that new new
get some clown loach along side discus they make the discus more active

Nice job, can you explain what made you go with a rimmed tank instead of a rimless? Like a Cade or RSR.

Superbbb.. love discus.. you should get a background for the tank. ..
HI THOMAS I LOVE YOU YOU ARE THE BESTEST!!!!
Dang, I was so sure this was going to be a home for a single betta! ;-)
@Big Al's, might want to attach frosted look to the back.
How about finishing the high tech planted build :)
@@NaturalAquaria Glad to hear. I really like your Low Tech and High Tech series. It has inspired me to build a planted tank :)
When he was talking about what fish to put I guesed octopus haha
That tank needs one single goldfish. Hahaha... kidding. I say and arowana.
I got a Aquatlantis Fusion 80 and 101 :) they really are great, but make sure you keep the lid clean or they won't open properly ^^
Its 2019. Discus are hardy now, and I have had a pair in my 20 tall for 2 months in tap at 7.8ph. Stability and temperature is key.
I think that currently discus are at the top of my wishlist, but it's terrifying thinking about having them. Goldfish are easier.
Your lucky you have enough space for a nice big tank like that. I only have space for a 15 gallon tall upstairs because my mom won’t let me put any type of tank downstairs

Miguel E Espinosa Yeah I agree with what you said. Also thanks for suggesting Holey Rock I will check it out
Awesome plan, Thomas! Are you gonna get wild type or the developed line?

😍😍😍😍

is it okay that the tank is next a window .. sun light source ... won't it ruins it with Algae and heat
Put like 2000 pea puffers. That would be awesome.
Thumbs up for blackwater! :)
You should have rented suction cups. Easiest way to move a big tank.
Nice socks!
I think the tank is beautiful! I was hoping you would do beautiful and colorful south American cichlids. I think discus are boring.
Wish this tank line was available in the states
1000 liters ... That's one ton of water ... This is how I give my downstairs neighbor a shower.
Where can I buy this tank in USA? Really appreciate when replying. Thanks
I know how you feel, it's was a nightmare bringing my UNS 120 up a flight of stairs with my buddy...
I have a 125 gallon tank ready for Discus. Aquael Maxi Kani Canisters and ziss bio bubble filters. Fluval heaters.....plants, driftwood, ADA substrate......I am still nervous about them.
Ooh
Hi, I’m interested at this company aquarium. How do I purchase them? Thanks
Those are some wavy socks man
Why don't you ever use acrylic tanks?
You can always talk to your friend Joey he's very knowledgeable about discus you know that the king of DIY
How much for your original mega build setup?
Doesn't big als sell that tank?
What are you going to do to hide all the wires in the back of the glass. I suggest you keep 6000 cardinals and other small tetras in a heavily planted tank.
Darn, I was hoping for 1000 guppies.
Does Nova Scotia only sell black and grey paint or what? ;-)
R0lica yes they do actually
Where can I buy this tank?
Looks like the window is a east facing...... Hope the algae stays far away!
What's going on with the bigals website??
Great opportunity to try out TWO Oase BioMaster 600 Thermo, No? Much, much less hassle to maintain than FX-6/FX-4. You can thank me later ;-)
You have funny socks
